WASHINGTON, DC – The DC Chapter of Log Cabin Republicans congratulate Tim Day for running a valiant campaign for the open Ward 5 seat vacated by disgraced former DC Councilmember Harry Thomas.  With just under fifteen percent voting, turnout was near historic lows.  Day placed fourth out of 11 candidates.

“Of course we’re not pleased with the outcome, but we live in a democracy.  Tim ran a vigorous race and was a model of integrity despite bullying and intimidation,” said President Robert Turner II.  “We congratulate Kenyan McDuffie and wish him well.  We are here to put the councilmember-elect and the rest of the City Council on notice that we will be watching!

“While we did not win this battle, we are winning the war on corruption down at the Wilson Building.  Yesterday’s election would not have taken place were in not for Tim.  We now set our eyes on the fall election where we have two outstanding candidates for Council in the Ward 7 and At-Large races,” Turner concluded.
