DC Log Cabin Congratulates LCR Member Tom Weirich On DC GOP Award

WASHINGTON, DC – The DC Chapter of Log Cabin Republicans would like to congratulate one of its own for being recognized by the DC Republican Committee. Last night at its annual Lincoln-Douglass Day Dinner, the DC Republican Party awarded Tom Weirich the “Up and Coming” Award, one of only two awards presented.

Weirich, an expert in renewable energy, is the creator and Chair of the ’35 under 35 Program.’ The mission of the 35 Under 35 Program of the DC Republican Committee is to create a forum for young urban Republican professionals to make an impact within the DC Republican Committee and more broadly the Republican Party.

“We congratulate Tom on this well deserved recognition, said DC Log Cabin President Robert Turner II. “He is indeed the next generation of the Republican Party, and through his continued leadership, will help our party appeal to younger and urban voters,” Turner concluded.

Log Cabin Republicans is a national organization started in 1977, with state and local chapters nationwide, which believes in low taxes, limited government, strong defense, free markets, personal responsibility, and individual liberty.  Log Cabin Republicans educates our party about why inclusion wins and that opposing gay and lesbian equality is inconsistent with the GOP’s core principles of smaller government and personal freedom.  The DC Chapter holds monthly meetings, supports inclusive local Republican candidates, and sponsors monthly social gatherings.  For more information, please visit www.dclogcabin.org.
