Palisades Parade with Mary Brooks Beatty

In town this Fourth of July?!? Start the day off right by joining DC Log Cabin and Mary Brooks Beatty in the annual Palisades 4th of July Parade and Picnic!

Since 1966, the Palisades Citizens Association — with the support of local business — has organized the annual July 4th parade and picnic. Every year the parade marks the who’s who of local politics and organizations and this year is no exception! We’ll march with Mary Brooks Beatty, the At Large City Council candidate for the DC Republican Party!

Find Mary’s group in the line-up starting at 10am on Whitehaven Parkway near Foxhall Road and stay after for the picnic with great food, music, and community spirit!

National Dinner

Earlier this week, our national organization held their Spirit of Lincoln Dinner at the Capitol Hyatt, honoring Senators Susan Collins and Scott Brown.  It was a grand evening, with about 10 people from our chapter in attendance.  It just so happen to have coincided with the repeal date of DADT.  Afterwards, we strolled over to the rooftop of the Jones Day building for the official After Party, hosted by the lovely S.E. Cupp.  Lastly, we ended up closing the night at Nellie’s Sports Bar.

Exciting news for tonight’s meeting!

Exciting news for tonight’s meeting! Fred Karger is in town and plans to stop by our meeting to say hello.  For those of you who don’t know him, last year Fred was the first Republican to establish a Presidential Exploratory Committee for 2012.  Today, he will be the first to file for President with the Federal Election Commission, turning in his paperwork this morning.

Fred was the Founder of Californians Against Hate, which help lead the fight against Proposition 8.  He has also played major roles in the campaigns of Presidents Ford and Reagan.

While he may not on the radar of the national media, Fred is a proud gay Republican, and we gladly welcome him.

Please stop by tonight to hear from Fred, our featured guest Julie Kruse, Policy Director at Immigration Equality, and to vote on endorsing Patrick Mara for City Council.  And don’t forget that we host an open bar both before and after the meeting.

See you tonight!
