DC Log Cabin Endorses for Upcoming Elections

WASHINGTON, DC – The DC Chapter of Log Cabin Republicans last night voted to endorse Republican candidates appearing on the ballot on April 3rd and in the Special Election May 15th.  In the DC Council races, Log Cabin endorsed Mary Brooks Beatty for At-Large, Ron Moten for Ward 7, and Tim Day in the Special Election for Ward 5.  The membership also endorsed current DC GOP Chair Bob Kabel for National Committeeman.  In the National Committeewoman race, the membership chose the option of no endorsement.  Additionally, the membership endorsed Nelson Rimensnyder, running for U.S. Shadow Senator.

“We are very excited about our Council candidates this year.  They are running campaigns about ethical and responsible government, along with revitalizing our communities,” said President Robert Turner.  “For our party leadership races, we strongly support Bob Kabel for National Committeeman.  He is a long-time member and friend to our chapter.  For the National Committeewoman race, we had an embarrassment of riches.  Both Teri Galvez and Jill Homan are great candidates and are supporters and friends of Log Cabin, so we thought it best not to choose,” Turner concluded.  Each endorsed candidate’s had the opportunity to present themselves, speak to and be questioned by the membership.

All endorsed candidates support the core principles of the Log Cabin Republicans, which are limited government, individual liberty, personal responsibility, free markets and a strong national defense while advocating for the freedom and equality of gay and lesbian Americans.  They also agree that marriage equality is settled law in the District of Columbia, and will not support efforts to change, repeal or overturn that law.  For more information, please visit http://www.dclogcabin.org.
